Winter doesn’t last forever in the Northland and, as the sun shines longer, we start to think of springtime fun in Duluth. The days may be nice while the evenings still have a bit of a chill left of ol’ man winter. It’s a great time to get out and enjoy the state and national parks in the area and see the ice flows down the rivers into Lake Superior.
The DECC is full of great family fun things to do in March and April 2016. March 12 has the ever popular Women’s Expo where the gals in the family can find all kinds of vendors to meet their needs and for a little pampering. This event is a whole lot of fun for the young and the not so young.
The Minnesota Ballet presents Cinderella March 18 – 20 in Symphony Hall at the DECC. While we like to think of Cinderella as the star of the show, the overdressed frumpiest stepsisters might just be the favorites in this classic tale.
With their super-duper tricks and crazy antics, the Harlem Globetrotters are at it again at the Amsoil Arena at the DECC on March 24. Come watch them outwit and outsmart the Washington Generals team with their superb ball handling and comedic style of play. The Globetrotters have been entertaining crowds for decades and you don’t want to miss this hilarious basketball game on laughter overload.
Easter is March 27 and the Edgewater Hotel & Waterpark can help you celebrate with fun Easter events March 25 & 26. Their Easter Extravaganza includes an egg hunt for the younger kids (under 6), arts & crafts, and the Easter Bunny! The older kids (6 and older) will enjoy a fun-filled scavenger hunt!
The 50th Anniversary of the Arrowhead Home & Builders Show is an annual event for everyone from all over the upper Midwest. This show is so big it will take up the entire DECC complex March 30 – April 3. It’s HUGE! In addition to vendors for anything you may need for your home, you can also take in a free seminar given by professionals in the field, enjoy a game show live with Bob Eubanks (you could even be a contestant), Joey Green will give you his gardening tips, the life of Anne Frank exhibit, and so much more. Check the program for specific times, topics and locations.
This year also marks the 70th Anniversary of the AAD Shrine Circus. Running April 8- 10 at the DECC, this event is the primary fundraising event for the AAD. At this same time the Enchanted Tea Party is available to all the boys and girls (ticket purchase required) where children can meet their favorite princesses and fairies.
