This year’s air show will also feature the U.S. Air Force’s Heritage Flight with two aircraft from World War II – the P38 Lightning and the P-47 Thunderbolt followed by the modern day F-22 Raptor, a stealth fighter.  The Lightning has special significance to the area as it is the same aircraft flown by native Richard Bong.  Superior, Wisconsin’s Richard I. Bong Historical Center has a grounded version of this same craft.

This year’s show is also special for “The Journey to Tomorrow” educational exhibit on loan from NASA.  In addition to this special exhibit, visitors to Duluth and the Air Show can view various planes and helicopters up close.

Plan to get to the Air Show early by staying the night at the Duluth Edgewater Hotel.   Make it two nights and you can save even more and not worry about trying to get your visit to Duluth’s Air Show done in time to leave town in a hurry.

Visit Duluth and stay at the most fun-filled Duluth hotel – the Edgewater Hotel & Waterpark.  You get more for your vacation dollars by staying here than anywhere else in Duluth.  This hotel has more to do on site inside (waterpark, arcade) and out (biking, mini golf, pool, playground) than any other Duluth, Minnesota hotel.
The Edgewater Duluth Hotel offers complimentary bicycles for guests to enjoy.  There is easy access to the Duluth Lakewalk from our hotel.  The Lakewalk has a paved surface that runs along the shore of Lake Superior.  This 4.2 mile trail will take you through Leif Erickson Park, past historical markers, through Canal Park, under the Aerial Lift Bridge and into Bayfront Festival Park.  Stop at any number of places and enjoy the lake shore, shops or get a bite to eat.  Feel free to walk or jog along the Lakewalk if biking isn’t your thing to do.

The Edgewater is the only Duluth MN hotel to have its own mini golf course.  You and your family will make great memories with a friendly round of mini golf all while taking in the spectacular view of Lake Superior.

After your game of golf, relax in our outdoor hot tub or pool.  Take it easy while the kids swim and play on the playground.  Everyone will enjoy the evening fire pits with ooey-gooey tiki toasters (roasted marshmallows)!

Rain or shine, the indoor waterpark is open for your enjoyment.  Take a thrilling ride down one of our two water slides or chill out while going around the lazy river.  Younger kids will certainly enjoy our zero entry water play area while the older ones will find loads of fun in our vortex and activity pool.

And no need to take time out to get a meal.  Tiki Tom’s Oasis & Grill is located in the waterpark so the kids don’t have to take too much time away from playing to eat and you don’t have to deal with the hassles of trying to get them out of the waterpark – it’s a win-win for everyone!

Of course, since we aren’t fish, we can’t spend all day in the water.  The Paradise Cove Arcade has more than 40 arcade games and loads of prizes to choose from to keep everyone entertained.  It’s a great way to spend an afternoon or evening break.
