The crafts show season starts November 7 with The Gingerbread Arts & Crafts show at the Miller Hill Mall all weekend.  The Hermantown Community Church (near Sam’s Club) will also be hosting another fabulous craft show on November 8.  And the largest craft and one-of-a-kind handmade gift show in the area is November 22 & 23 at the Duluth Entertainment & Convention Center – Junior League’s Festival of Trees.

The Christmas City of the North Parade is Friday, November 21.  The route has been moved back to Downtown Duluth on Superior Street for the entire parade.  Be sure to bring a chair to sit on and dress warm!

Bentleyville Tour of Lights opens November 22 and will be open through December 27.  The Edgewater will once again have the Bentleyville train pick up guests and take them from the hotel to Bayfront Festival Park and back again.  This is a fun trip for the family and if you have never visited Bentleyville, there is no better time than this year.   Admission is free, however; donations are graciously accepted at various points in the park.  Since this is an annual event for many, booking early will guarantee you a warm, comfy room during your stay.  We have some great Bentleyville packages just for you so check them out!

Things To Do in October in Duluth MN

September 2, 2014

Summer might be over but the fun is just beginning with things to do in October in Duluth, Minnesota!  Duluthians and the Edgewater Hotel staff embrace the autumn weather, fall colors and all the fun that comes with Halloween.

Boo at the Zoo - Lake Superior Zoo

The North Shore Scenic Railroad runs fall color tours along the northern shore of Lake Superior.  This is a spectacular way to view the city of Duluth and the shore line.  And be sure to check out the Pumpkin train October 17 – 19 where you ride to pick up your pumpkin at a secret location that can only be gotten to by train.  Boo at the Zoo is always a treat for the kids where they can see the zoo and get a head start on their trick-or-treating.  This event is October 11 & 18.  The Duluth Experience is still offering their fantastic history tours through October.  There is their easy bus tour and the more adventurous walking tour.  Evil Dead The Musical will be playing at the Duluth Playhouse Underground beginning October 23 – could be shockingly interesting.  University of Minnesota – Duluth (UMD) Men’s and Women’s hockey is in full swing in October.  These games are always fun and exciting for the whole family.  Engwall’s corn maze is always a hoot as you find your way through the stalks of corn.  But watch out! This corn maze becomes the field of screams October 25 – 26 where you never know what might be lurking around the next corn stalk.

And of course the biggest event in October is the William A. Irvin ore boat becomes quite haunted during the month (check the calendar for open dates).  These haunted ship tours are by no means for the faint of heart so beware! This tour is so scary that no child under the age of 12 is allowed without a parent.  Bring a canned good to receive $1 off the admission price.

The Edgewater loves to have fun with guests at Halloween and are offering a spooktacular discount along with ghastly activities.   A costume contest, spooky crafts, tattoos, dirt cake, pizza buffet and tons more frightening things are on tap for guests.  Book early as this weekend tends to be popular!
