Things To Do in Duluth in June

May 27, 2015

It’s June and you are going to visit Duluth and you are going to have a fabulous time while you are there!  There are so many things to do in Duluth when the sun is shining and Lake Superior is calling your name.

Enjoy the classic summer pastime of a baseball game with the Duluth Huskies at Wade Stadium.  Or take in the month long art exhibit of Cheng-Khee Chee at the Tweed Museum on the University of Minnesota Duluth campus.  Come visit Duluth the weekend of June 12 & 13 and take in one of the biggest rummage sales in Duluth – the Park Point Rummage Sale.  Enjoy the sailboat races on Lake Superior every Wednesday and don’t forget to just relax with a stroll along the Lakewalk and maybe a bit of ice cream in Canal Park.

Sail Boat Races in front of Edge

The biggest weekend in June is Grandma’s Marathon June 19 – 20, 2015.  With a 5K race on Friday night followed by the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and Grandma’s Marathon on Saturday, there is a race for everyone!  There will be plenty of great music, food and fun all weekend long.

June is also a great time to bike, hike or walk any one of the many trails located in and around the city of Duluth.  Spirit Mountain isn’t just for skiing, it also has a wonderfully challenging mountain biking trail system for you to enjoy.  You can even rent a bike or get one repaired right on location.  They have trails for the novice and the more experienced riders. Check it out!

And what could be more fun in Duluth than spending an afternoon in the Edge Waterpark?!  Or spending time watching the ships go by sitting poolside?  Or taking one of the Edgewater Hotel’s complimentary bikes out for a ride on the Lakewalk?  All of these are fun and we invite you to enjoy them when you visit Duluth!

Free Shrine Circus Tickets from the Edgewater Hotel

May 13, 2015

What do you do with 150 circus tickets?  You give them to those who need some fun the most!  As a sponsor of the AAD Shrine Circus, the Edgewater Hotel & Waterpark received tickets to the shows and decided to do more than just sell them with a room.

The Edgewater connected with local community groups like the Boys & Girls Club, YWCA, Neighborhood Youth Services, and with Military families to give away tickets to various shows during the Circus’ April run in Duluth.  In addition to these groups, victims of a recent apartment complex fire at Applewood Knoll were also provided with free circus tickets to take their families out for a day of fun and enjoyment.

Tickets were good for seats in the ZMC Hotels owned suite as well as general seating.  Amsoil Arena graciously provided free popcorn to all attendees using Edgewater tickets.  And from the looks of it, the kids had a wonderful time as reported by WDIO.  Even Woody the Clown came to visit with families at the Edgewater Hotel.
