One man’s home decoration turned into one of the nation’s largest holiday light display. Bentleyville U.S.A. began as a passion of Nathan Bentley at his home each holiday season. It has now grown to a phenomenon at Duluth’s Bayfront Park. During the five years it was at the Bentley home, they had about 72,000 visitors. Last year alone it had more than 240,000 visitors enjoy the spectacle. It is now a holiday tradition for many in the Northland.
The display will be open November 22 – December 27, 2015 and is open nightly at 5 pm. It is free to the public but cash donations are welcome at any time. Special mailboxes are set up to accept your donation. Everything is free right down to the hot cocoa, cookies, popcorn and hats from Santa for those under the age of 10.
Each year brings new displays. Parking is available for a fee at the DECC and Bayfront Park. If you want to avoid the hassle of parking, make a reservation at the Edgewater on Friday or Saturday nights (Nov 21 – Dec 19) and enjoy a ride aboard the Christmas City Express Train from the hotel to Bentleyville and back. Make it a holly jolly holiday for you and your family!
