Time is short and there are so many things to do in Duluth in September. The fall season begins Labor Day weekend at the Edgewater with tons of fun for the family. The kids can get free airbrush tattoos, make a sailboat and enjoy an outdoor movie with s’mores. Saturday and Sunday morning at 10 a.m. the sailboat races are held on the lazy river in the waterpark. Super food specials will be available at the Edge Grill from 3 – 10 p.m. each evening and Tiki Tom will be in the lobby greeting guests from 5 – 7 p.m.
The Duluth-Superior Pride Festival is also this weekend and is open to everyone and anyone. Festival activities include a train ride, music at Bayfront Park, parade, and lots of great food and exhibits. This is truly a fun event.
The Inline Marathon runs the same course as Grandma’s Marathon on September 14 and is the longest inline marathon in North America. Marathoners will enjoy the usually cooler temps and changing leaf colors along this 26-mile route.
And speaking of leaf colors, yes, the leaves have started changing into their fall colors. Northern Minnesota and Duluth in particular are especially nice to view fall colors with the hills and just so many trees with every shade or red, orange and yellow making its debut. There are leaf viewing train and boat rides available and driving up the north shore of Lake Superior is always inspiring.
All the migratory raptor birds that came up in the spring will now begin their journey back to their winter homes. Hawk Ridge celebrates this migration September 20 – 22 with a dinner, auction, seminars and more. Seeing hundreds and thousands of birds pass through Duluth is an amazing sight!
September in Duluth also brings a sight not often seen, hot air balloons. Le Festival des Montgolfières à Duluth, the Duluth Balloon Festival, is also September 20 – 22 at Bayfront Festival Park. There are at least 10 – 12 balloons expected with tethered rides for visitors and plenty of activity.
Don’t miss out on the fun at the Edgewater! Call or reserve now and enjoy the festivities in Duluth!
