Lake Superior Ice Caves | Apostle Islands National Lakeshore

February 16, 2014

You’ve seen them on the national news and have heard about them from friends who have gone – the Lake Superior ice caves in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore are accessible by foot this year and they are AMAZING!  But this is a limited time offer!  Once the temps start to rise, the ice pack will become too unstable to walk on so take advantage of seeing them now.

The walk is about a mile from the mainland and the cave cliffs run about two miles along the shore.  Most visitors allow at least three to four hours visiting and enjoying the natural beauty.  Dress in layers and wear comfortable hiking or walking boots as the terrain can be uneven and slippery.  Be sure to check conditions before heading out.

Plan a weekend adventure by staying in Duluth and visiting the ice caves, just a short drive along the northern shore of Wisconsin.  After a day of hiking and viewing the caves, relax and enjoy the warmth of our hot tub and indoor waterpark.  Reserve now to get the best rate before winter is over!

Are you planning a trip to see the Ice Caves? Stay with us at The Edge for an easy day trip to this amazing experience. Reserve our Sea Cavers Discount and stay from $75 Sunday – Thursday or save 20% off Friday & Saturday. This offer is valid now through March 31, 2014. January 14, 2014

We may be in the throes of winter with snow and cold but summer will come!  Think warm thoughts as you visit the Duluth Boat, Sports, Travel & RV Show at the Duluth Entertainment & Convention Center (DECC) February 12 – 16, 2014.  These five days of the show can make you feel all warm and cozy with tricked out recreational vehicles, screaming boats, trending camping equipment, fishing & hunting lodges, the largest display of fishing equipment, and so much more fun stuff to get you all set for the best summer ever!

Not only do you get to enjoy happy thoughts of summer, but one ticket will also get you access to the Northland Outdoors Duluth Deer Classic show as well.  This show is made for the hunter, fisherman, trapping person in your family.  Find information and merchandise for bow & arrow as well as firearms.  There will be plenty of hunting seminars to keep you up on all the latest.

And if you aren’t into the great outdoors, there are still some great things here for you!  The 6 member acapella group, Street Corner Symphony, 2010 Runners-Up on NBC’s all vocal competition, The Sing Off, will perform twice daily on Friday and Saturday.  The live North American Animal Exhibit will be educational and interesting for the whole family.  There will be seminars throughout the day on animal survivability along with great exhibits and live animals.

The kids will love the trout tank which has become an annual tradition.  Kids (and probably a few adults) can enjoy face painting and balloon animals – just look for the Cherri Merri Muffin in the Main Deli area.
